Industrial fuels come clean

FFS has developed in-house technology that produces heavy fuel oil with exceptionally low levels of ash, including aluminium, silica and iron.

This technology has been rolled out at all FFS branches, giving customers access to this premium quality fuel.

We are proud of the fact that our fuel is fully compliant with international Al/Si specifications (Al/Si < 60 ppm and ash < 0.02%).

We believe that we are the only oil company in South Africa that loads HFO through five-micron loading filters at rates exceeding 45 m3/hr – a feat that can only be accomplished with exceptionally clean product.

Another innovation is our Coal Tar Fuel (CTF), a liquid industrial heating fuel composed of a unique blend of coal-derived creosotes and tars.

CTF’s main advantages over conventional hydrocarbon fuels are its higher radiance properties and low sulphur content, making it fully compliant with the new air quality emission regulations that come into effect in April 2020 (NEMAQA).
