Our product offering is backed up by the best customer service and support available in the industry; we have customer service teams in each major area that provide technical and commercial services to our customer base. Our in-house technicians and workshops manufacture, install and maintain fuel oil reticulation systems at our customers – we provide a fast and efficient service to our customers to ensure minimum downtime.

FFS provide a variety of “fit-for-purpose” Fuel Oils to industry. From recovered heavy fuel oils to distillates, we have a product in our range that will meet your fuel oil requirements.

Our Fuel Oil product range includes:

R50:50

Description
R50:50 is produced from a combination of recovered oils, oil refinery by-products, off-specification and conventional refinery fuel oils. These oils are re-refined using our various dewatering and de-ashing processes and blended to final product specification.

Application
The relatively high ash content of R50:50 (offset by lower pricing) limits its use to large and/or robust applications such as direct firing into asphalt kilns, brick ovens, billet re-heating and large boilers (typically converted from coal) that are fuel-ash tolerant. R50:50 must be heated for proper atomising.

Availability
R50:50 is produced at FFS Refiners’ Cape Town, Chloorkop and Durban plants and is distributed countrywide by road tanker.

FUEL OIL 150 (FO150)

Description
Fuel Oil 150 is a crude oil derived heavy fuel oil or HFO. This is the ‘industry standard’ fuel oil and is also referred to as Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO), Heavy Furnace Fuel (HFF) or Heavy Boiler Fuel (HBF).

FFS’s HFO is produced using our unique processing technologies that reduce contaminant and sediment levels to very low levels. Lower contaminant and sediment levels reduce wear on burner pumps, nozzles and valves and minimise blockages in filters, nozzles and piping.

Application
HFO is typically used in larger applications such as larger boilers and for start-up fuel in coal-fired power stations. FO150 must be heated for proper atomising.

Availability
FO 150 is available from all FFS branches throughout South Africa.

LOW SULPHUR OIL (LSO)

Description
LSO is a combination of HFO and various low sulphur fuel oil components blended together to meet a specific sulphur content requirement.

Application
LSO can be used in HFO applications where the allowable sulphur emissions are limited for environmental or corrosion reasons (e.g. air driers). LSO must be heated for proper atomising.

Availability
LSO is blended at our Cape Town, Chloorkop and Durban plants and is distributed countrywide by road tankers.

Our Low Sulphur Oils are characterised by low sulphur levels and higher pourpoint. FFS can process and blend a low sulphur heavy fuel oil to meet your specific environmental and quality requirements.

LIGHT OIL 10 (LO10)

Description
LO10 is a blend of light/distillate fuel oils from various refining processes. It is a cost effective, low sulphur alternative to Illuminating Paraffin (IP) and diesel in larger furnace applications. No lubricity additives are required and the higher density relates to a high volumetric energy value (compared to IP)

Application
LO10 is used extensively in small boilers, thermal oil heaters and other IP and diesel heating fuel applications. Fuel heating is generally not required for atomisation.

LO10 is not suitable for use in internal combustion engines.

Availability
LO10 is manufactured at FFS Refiners’ Cape Town and Pietermaritzburg plants and is distributed countrywide by road tankers.

Application
HPO150 is used in the manufacture of lubricants and other process oil applications.

Availability
HPO150 is manufactured in FFS’s Pietermaritzburg plant and transported to customers by road tanker.
